Course Overview

On completion of this unit, learners will have the skills and knowledge in applying workplace safety and health practices to ensure the safety of oneself and others at work in the construction Industry by identifying own roles and responsibilities in construction job, following safe work procedures, adopting relevant risk control measures when working at heights and responding to fire emergencies.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be above 18 years of age and are assumed to:

1. Have employment status as manual labour to carry out construction work in building and engineering construction worksites

2. Be medically fit.

3. Be able to listen, read, speak and write at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 2

4. Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills (ES) level 2

5. Be able to follow written and oral work instructions

6. Must not have previously failed the AWSHCS course or the Recertification course

7. Possess a valid Work Permit/IPA

SkillsFuture Credit

Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Applications via MySkillsFuture.sg must be made within 60 days before course commencement.

Enhanced Training Support Scheme

– Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore

– At least 30% local shareholding by Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

– Employment size of not more than 200 (at group level) or with annual sales turnover (at group level) of not more than SGD100 million

– Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course

– Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
