Course Overview
By the end of the class/ workshop, learners will be able to:
• Prepare for cleaning activities by ensuring safe working practices are observed.
• Remove loose dust and debris from the type and characteristics of furniture and furnishings
• Remove spillage and stains from furniture and furnishings
• Polish furniture and furnishings
• Reinstate work area and report to one’s supervisor if work cannot be carried out
This module covers the skills and knowledge required to maintain furniture and furnishings .
It requires the ability to assess the extent of the cleaning task through understanding client requirements, the characteristics and surfaces of furniture and fittings, and applying company policies and procedures in order to perform the task. Participants will be taught how to commence preparatory work observing workplace safety regulations and those of the organisation. Commencement of work activities involves the selection of appropriate cleaning equipment, chemicals and methods is essential for performing the task safely and efficiently, apply the correct cleaning techniques , handling and disposal of chemicals safely , handling and disposal of contaminated waste and safe working practices during reinstatement of the workplace. He /she will be taught the importance of company reporting procedures in the event that there are any irregularities with the workplace that work cannot be carried out or hazardous occurrences.

Identify the different types of PPE for cleaning activities
Apply knowledge of basic first aid in dealing with injuries
Identify different types of dust, debris, spillage and stains and removal methods
Identify tools, equipment and supplies needed to clean spillages, remove dust, debris
Identify types of tools and accessories to polish furniture and furnishings
Entry Requirements
● The level of English language proficiency at WPLN Level 1.
● No work experience required.
● Majority of learners with language difficulties, language barriers due to low educational level. The program though conducted in English, requires our trainers to translate some of the content to Mandarin, Malay, sometimes Tamil and to different dialects to meet the special needs of learners for ease of understanding.

Self-sponsored enquirers will be screened by our course consultants to determine their English language ability and they will be counselled to enquire at British Council for the appropriate language course and requirements of the program will be shared with them.
