Course Overview

The Generic Manufacturing Skills (GMS) WSQ framework aims to raise the professionalism of the workforce. This Competency Unit aims to equip the construction related industry workforce with knowledge and skills in supervising scaffold erection, inspection and dismantling work activities in construction and other related industries.

On completion of this unit, learners will have knowledge and skills in supervising scaffold erection and dismantling work activities in construction and other industries.

The “Supervise Metal Scaffold Erection” is a mandatory WSH training course for all workers supervising scaffolding works in construction sites and related industries.

Recommended Learning Hours(RLH)
RLH = 69 training hours + 6 assessment hours

What You'll Learn

Set up and erect independent tied scaffold in accordance with safe work procedures, general principles and requirements of SS 659, WSH (Scaffold) Regulations and other related WSH Regulations

Perform inspection and dismantling of independent tied scaffold in accordance with safe work procedures, general principles and 12requirements of SS659 , WSH(Scaffold) Regulations and other related WSH Regulations

Perform erection, inspection and dismantling of frame scaffold in accordance with safe work procedures, general principles and requirements of SS659 , WSH (Scaffold) Regulations and other related WSH Regulations

Perform erection, inspection and dismantling of birdcage scaffold in accordance with safe work procedures, general principles and requirements of SS659, WSH(Scaffold) Regulations and other related WSH Regulations

Perform erection, inspection and dismantling of tubular tower scaffold in accordance with safe work procedures, general principles and requirements of SS659, WSH(Scaffold) Regulations and other related WSH Regulations

Perform erection, inspection and dismantling of aluminum tower scaffold and all round system scaffold in accordance with safe work procedures, general principles and requirements of SS659, WSH(Scaffold) Regulations and other related WSH Regulations

Perform erection, inspection and dismantling of cuplock system scaffold in accordance with the safe work procedures, general principles and requirements of SS659, WSH (Scaffold) Regulations and other related WSH Regulations

Identify hazards and ensure safety of scaffold erection and dismantling

Record work in scaffold register and inspection checklists

Entry Requirements

Learners are assumed to have:
• Successfully completed the Metal Scaffold Erection Course. Proof of entry requirement includes the submission of Certificate of Successful Completion or WSQ Certificate of Attainment (SOA).
• Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy level 4 and above.
• Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace Numeracy level 4 and above.

Enhanced Training Support Scheme

– Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore

– At least 30% local shareholding by Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

– Employment size of not more than 200 (at group level) or with annual sales turnover (at group level) of not more than SGD100 million

– Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
